BS in Biomedical Engineering
The Department of Biomedical Engineering offers a four-year curricular leading to a professional baccalaureate degree, a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering (BS-BME). This degree is designed to prepare students for graduate school, medical school or industry and meets nationally recognized criteria for accreditation.
Core Requirements
The BS-BME curriculum is structured around a basic core of 87-88 units. A complementary program of at least 35 units completes the degree requirements. For the specialty tracks, these courses consist of a track-specific core plus electives.
Professional Degree Options
Under the BS-BME option, students can select from one of four specialty track options or a general, non-track course of study:
Graduate level courses are open to qualified, upper level undergraduates. These courses offer advanced training in selected areas of bioimedical engineering, including all of the track specialties. In addition, we offer a 5-year combined program leading to both BS and MS degrees, see below.
