The Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) and the 2008 Local Committee is
pleased to invite you to participate in the 2008 BMES Annual Fall Meeting,
October 2-4, 2008 at the Renaissance Grand Hotel, St. Louis, MO.
Modern biomedical engineering as a discipline is only a few decades old yet
it has already greatly impacted our quality of life. Cardiac pacemakers
and defibrillators, artificial heart valves and prosthetic joints are but
a few examples of products that have helped improve human health. As
impressive as the past history is, however, the future is even more exciting.
This is because the diverse and interdisciplinary nature of BME has the
potential to produce even greater impact on everything from molecules to
organs in the years to come.
BMES has an international membership of over 3,500 members. BMES members
are leaders and decision makers in research, design, and applications of
medical technology. The program will showcase over 600 oral presentations,
over 1000 scientific posters, and includes table top and larger school and
Industry exhibits. This year's Society meeting is expected to attract more
than 2,400 participants from all over the world representing a wide variety
of practicing engineers from biomedical, electrical, chemical, mechanical,
and other engineering fields, as well as medical specialists.
We welcome your participation in what promises to be an exciting and
productive meeting and thank you in advance for your help in making this
Meeting a success.
We look forward to welcoming you to St. Louis!
